The Limitless Entrepreneur.

This week’s newsletter is going to cover:
🧠 Why the key to being Limitless lies between your eyes
Let’s dive in…👇
I’m currently going through the most challenging & stressful time to date in my core business.
My team has grown 40% in the last month
We’re missing a key senior role I’m currently filling in for
We’ve nailed client acquisition & are now booked up until Sept
So demands on me currently are the highest they’ve ever been.
And the version of me a few years ago would’ve dealt with this pressure terribly.
I’d be in a bad mood
I’d get angry at other people
I’d shy away & shut off
(Which is utterly ridiculous when I type it out… 😅)
But contrary to that, I am currently dealing with it quite well.
Rather than shrinking under the challenge, I am rising up to it.
This is because I have been on a big journey with my mindset (and I still am)…
As I realised a few years ago…
Whether or not you become a Limitless Entrepreneur is decided in between your ears.
My dad used to bang on about having a positive attitude when I was a kid.
At the time, I never really understood the importance & often shrugged it off.
(although… I’m certain it subconsciously programmed me to an extent - so thanks Dad!)
It took until I was 23 years old before my eyes were truly opened to the power of our minds.
The trigger was my friend Jordan recommended a book to me - The Daily Stoic.
This was my first intro to the world of stoicism.
And to say it had an impact on me would be an understatement.
Here’s the 3 biggest lessons I took from it & how it has helped me on my journey as an Entrepreneur…
1. Control The Controllables
I quickly learnt that in business there are many things you can’t control.
The only thing you can control is YOU.
Your reaction.
Your response.
You get to decide.
I used to get stressed about what clients might be thinking, if our campaigns were going to work… and all kinds of stuff.
Now I only focus on what we can control - which is doing the work to the best of our ability.
2. Embrace The Stress
I used to let stress get the better of me.
During one particularly stressful time, I was in a bad mood EVERY single day for weeks.
I just couldn’t shake it.
Until a mentor told me:
In business there will always be problems.
In fact there will never NOT be problems.
Be grateful for them.
After all, you chose this path, and thus these problems.
It was a massive pin-drop moment for me.
Now I welcome the problems and I embrace the stress the bring.
Stress is a necessary precursor for growth.
And at every level of Entrepreneurship, your capacity to deal with stress needs to increase.
It’s a requirement of the journey, so learning to embrace it is a must.
3. The Power of Thought
To be limitless all starts with the mind.
I realised I MUST learn to control it, otherwise it will control me.
We wake up everyday & get to choose the reality we step into.
Nothing in this world is inherently good or bad; only what we choose to assign to it.
I remember early in my business when I made my first few hires…
…after seeing them not performing I subconsciously decided they weren’t very good.
What happened after that?
I could no longer see all the good stuff they were doing because I had ‘decided’ they were ‘bad’.
I chose a negative thought, and it became my negative reality.
Growing your mindset requires proactive effort.
Just like growing your muscles requires you to go to the gym.
The three biggest things that have helped me so far are…
Journalling
I try and do a brain dump in the morning of how I feel.
Writing it down solidifies your thoughts & enables self-reflection.
I’m not perfect with this, I do it when I feel like I need to.Mentors
I have multiple mentors that I pay a lot of money to spend time with.
I can trace back many big breakthroughs directly to them.
Just make sure you choose them wisely.Reading
For obvious reasons.
Specifically for mindset the most impactful books for me have been:The Daily Stoic - Ryan Holliday
Mindset - Carol S. Dweck
Grit - Angela Duckworth
Yes! Attitude - Jeffrey Gitomer
Can’t Hurt Me - David Goggins
I hope this was useful.
Take it easy,
Elliott ✌🏼
